This is a character idea I’ve had for a while and have been working on on-and-off: a goblin bard.
I wanted to practice drawing something with a bit more exaggeration than a realistic style, as well as expressions with features that aren’t quite human.
There is a full colour reference but after I’d started drawing these expressions in one colour to speed up the process, I’ve been looking at the reference sheet and I’m not happy with the colour choices anymore- so I’ll redo them later.
I did like experimenting with the ear tilt, varied teeth and diamond pupils for the expressions. (also note the eyebrows, nose scrunch and shoulder angle)
I won’t go too much into her personality or backstory, but I love the concept of a tiny bard who just reaches into her Bag of Holding and pulls out an instrument that can double as a weapon. She does have musical and singing talent but is in a state of perpetual annoyance, being one of the few party members with a shred of common sense.
