Continuing with the red eyes theme, an angry vampire. Angry because she’s captured and can’t bite anyone.
Something a little different in terms of hair length and colour; instead of black & white or full colour, this is black & white with one colour. Also one of the first pictures of the series with really short hair, since I was trying to draw a character with short hair and still be clearly a girl.
The jawline is different though because when making an expression like that, it’s going to change with all the muscles tensing like that. When drawing this I wanted expression to be the predominate priority, then if it looks pretty.
I’m also quite happy with how the teeth turned out, the perspective looks right and the fangs look believable.
With the shading and lighting, I used that same highlighting with black & white method as before, for her hair and her clothing, but I tried limit the shading only to exaggerate her expression. I was a little scared because I thought if might interfere with her eyelashes, but doing the lineart in a lighter tone and then absolute black for the colouring in worked great in just black & white.
The ropes were also done with a different brush to show they are different because how else do you convey it’s a magic rope? What else would hold a vampire anyway?
The earrings are also a little detail I’m happy with.
