This character has decided to go into a “haunted house”, and found out it’s actually haunted.

I had done most of the lineart a while ago but was undecided about what the final render style would be- so I just made myself finish it and see what inspiration came from there. I’d also used grey lines for the white clothing, which really added to the final render.
Trying to match the more stylised proportions and lineart, I tried some kind of variation of cell shading- using the same colour to shade everything rather than adjust each colour.
I changed the opacity for different layers of the veil to try and get that semi-transparent look, but also to show where it overlaps.

I wanted to keep the background simple, only using shade of one colour but with wood paneling and ornate framed pictures (featuring the shoulder of some military man with medals) to imply it’s an old, grand house.
The dress she’s wearing is an off-white with a few imperfections, such as minute colour differences and it not quite fitting, in order to show the age of the garment I imagine she got from an Op Shop.
For the lighting I used a similar technique to the veil; colour in a solid(ish) block, then when happy, lower the opacity level. I added a solid layer on top for the very strong highlights using a thinner brush, mainly for edges that would reflect best such as: reflection in eyes, lips, hair, beads in hairpiece, threads in the veil and some parts like the nose neck and collar bone. There is none on the dress for the reason stated above.
I’m sure there are things that I can still add or change, but it’ll never be completed if I do that- so here it is. I’m quite happy with how it finally turned out, especially the colours in regards to lighting.
